Craig Sager Is Dead

ORIGIN
Craig Sager was an American television sports broadcaster. He was best known for his work as a sideline reporter for Turner Sports (TNT, TBS). Sager was born to parents Coral and Al on June 29, 1951 in Batavia, Illinois. He attended Northwestern University where he majored in speech. He also served as the university’s mascot, Willie the Wildcat.

CAREER
Sager started his career as a reporter in 1972. He reported for WXLT before joining CNN in 1981. While At CNN, Sager served as co-anchor of CNN Sports Tonight. He was honored in 1985 with the CableAce award. Sager spent most of his career working for Turner Sports. He’s covered several major events including the Winter Olympics, FIFA World Cups, and NBA All-Star Games. He co-hosted the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade from 1990-1995. Sager was also know for his bizarre and unique sense of fashion. He often times wore brightly colored suits and ties.

PERSONAL
Craig Sager died on December 15, 2016 at the age of 65. His reported cause of death was acute myeloid leukemia. He was first diagnosed with leukemia in 2014. Sager was 6ft 2in tall and had a net worth of $9.5 million. He was married twice and had five children: Riley, Ryan, Kacy, Craig Jr. and Krista. His second wife ‘Stacy’ was a former Chicago Bulls dancer. In addition to his wife and kids, he’s also survived by a sister named Candy.
