ORIGIN
Lancelot Juniour Dean Bravo, known by his stage name Clane Matthew, is a Jamaican-born conscious hip-hop artist. Clane moved to the United States in 2008 at age 9. He later found out that he was musically inclined at age 10. Clane spent his early years in Jamaica growing up amongst his family in the countryside. He spent his days feeding chickens, picking fruit and vegetables, and handling livestock. Clane was a master at academics, bringing home straight As from school year after year. He was projected to go on to do great things in the country’s capital in his older years. However, his life all changed when his dad brought him to Florida in 2008. He spent the latter half of his life growing up in Orlando, FL where he’s perfected his art.

Clane found his love for music in elementary school when he was placed in a violin class. The sounds the violin made gave him chills down his spine, and opened his eyes to the beauty of music. In middle school he played the trumpet then later mastered the piano. Clane’s parents couldn’t afford to pay for piano lessons so he took matters into his own hands and learned by ear. Clane started officially writing songs at the age of 10, but officially started rapping at the age of 12.

Although Clane grew up in a reggae and dancehall-dominated culture, he listened to American hip hop in his youth. He listened to artists like Eminem and Jay-Z, and even mimicked their flow as a kid. When he first arrived in the U.S., he started listening to artists such as T.I., and then later J. Cole, Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar. His first single in 2015 was ultimately looked down upon by his peers in high school but that didn’t stop him. He kept perfecting his art throughout the years by listening and studying the greats of his time. Today, Clane’s higher thinking and profound lyricism puts him next in the game to be one of the most influential artists of his generation.

CAREER
In 2018, Clane released his debut single “The Unspoken Word.” The song tackled the social implications of being a black man in the United States. The song created a great buzz for him. The song reached over 100,000 people worldwide on a couple of different continents such as Africa. Clane was then labeled “an inspiration to the young generation” and a “voice for the voiceless” by his fans and listeners. Clane then dropped another single called “Inhibitions” which tackled the topic of depression in its entire severity. He raps about his own thoughts and feelings of depression in order to sympathize with those who suffer from it.

Clane then dropped another single called “Platforms” where he talked about the social implications of social media and how it’s slowly leading to our own demise. For that song, he was dubbed “A voice of fresh air” and “voice of truth” by listeners. His lyricism and flow have since drawn comparison to the likes of Kendrick Lamar by Indie Jamz Radio, and his song was labeled “A beautiful and refreshing message compared to the recurring themes and sounds of hip hop and rap today” by Los Angeles’ Premier Independent Music Hub, “Buzzmusic.”

After the release of Platforms, he followed up with “You Ain’t Ready” from his ‘On the Real’ EP. The song strayed away from his knowledgeable teachings by shifting into high gear to show his versatility in the rap game. The song was basically a diss track to all those who never believed in him in the beginning and those who talk bad about him now. Buzzmusic again described it as having a “fire delivery and intriguing story”, ending with the quote “Clane Matthew is up next.”

The titles of Clane’s next projects have been revealed. His sophomore EP will be called ‘Melancholic Therapy’ and it features his already released song “Melancholic Therapy.” In this EP, Clane will use his music as a form of therapy in order to cure himself of bad thoughts and to hopefully sympathize with those who are enduring the same predicaments. His next two projects are called ‘Season of Love’ and ‘I’m Not A Rapper.’ ‘Season of Love’ will be an EP appreciating women all of over the world for being beautiful just the way they are, while ‘I’m Not A Rapper’ will be a hard-hitting, fire delivery explaining why he is not a rapper, but more of an artist to make a change. Clane has not released an official date for any of these EPs.

PERSONAL
Clane is said to be a very funny, relaxed, and cool person. When he’s away from the studio, he’s the most open and caring person ever and his presence usually brings joy to others. Clane enjoys playing the piano for his church in his spare time, where he is also the praise and worship leader. He also likes to spend his time listening to his role models like Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, and Childish Gambino. His favorite album of all time is Kendrick’s ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ which gave Clane a spiritual awakening in what he wants his music to stand for.

Apart from music Clane likes to go fishing. His grandfather was obsessed with fishing and now he has taken up the mantle. Coming from Jamaica, he used to be by the riverside every day fishing for a big catch. Today, Clane heads to the coast in Tampa, Titusville, or Cape Canaveral in his spare time to fish so he can release tension, anxiety, stress and also get some good fish to eat! Clane also loves to spend time with his soon-to-be wife. They enjoy watching movies together, playing games together, and exploring the world together. They’ve been together since high school and she is the most influential and motivating person in his life when it comes to his music career.

Clane is a family man and also loves to spend time with his family. His family is one of the primary reasons why he’s in the music game. He likes to spend time with his niece, go fishing with his mother, and playing basketball and video games with his brother. He and his father also share a keen interest in music, and they also make music together. Apart from his girlfriend, Clane’s sister is also one of the biggest influences in his life. Since birth, his sister has always been there for him. They have a very tight, strong, and trustworthy bond with each other. He also enjoys chatting and laughing with his three closest friends. They have also been a big influence on his musical career.
