Chevel Shepherd is an American country singer. She competed and won season 15 of The Voice as a member of Team Kelly Clarkson. During the finale, she performed the original song “Broken Hearts.” Throughout the competition, she covered artists such as Loretta Lynn, LeAnn Rimes, and Tanya Tucker. In addition to the $100 thousand cash prize, she landed a recording deal with Universal Music Group. Shepherd was born on June 18, 2002, in La Plata, New Mexico. Shepherd grew up listening to predominantly country music. She started out singing at age 2, and by 8 she was already performing locally in her hometown. She created a mini-CD at 9 and learned the art of yodeling at 11. At age 16, Shepherd became a contestant on season 15 of The Voice. She auditioned unsuccessfully for season 13 back in 2017. During the Knockouts round, she performed Bruce Robinson’s “Travelin’ Soldier” and Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind.”

“Space Cowboy” by Kacey Musgraves and “Little White Church” by Little Big Town were among the songs performed by Shepherd. She covered LeAnn Rimes’ “Blue” for the semifinals (also as a tribute to her grandfather). For the grand finale, she did a beautiful rendition of “It’s a Little Too Late”, originally by Tanya Tucker. She performed the original song “Broken Hearts.” For her duet, she covered “Rockin’ with the Rhythm of the Rain” alongside her coach.
