ORIGIN
Spanish rapper, C. Tangana, has been forging his identity in the European market since the early 2000s. The Madrid product is an active member of Spain’s urban music culture and one of several pioneers revolutionizing Spanish art. He is also a member of the rap collective, Agorazein, a crew consisting of Agz, Jerv, Sticky M.A, I-Ace, and Fabianni. In a country where rap music is considered untraditional, C. Tangana thrives to make the new wave feel normal. C. Tangana was born Antón Álvarez Alfaro on July 16, 1990, in Madrid, Spain. He was raised by both parents. He attended high school and, upon graduating, enrolled at the Complutense University of Madrid where he studied philosophy. C. Tangana starting rapping and freestyling from his high school days. He adopted the stage name “Crema” and started building a reputation among the youths with his underground urban rap. Like many artists, he drew inspiration from various acts, including Michael Jackson, Drake, Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Beastie Boys and others.

CAREER
In 2006, under the pseudonym Crema, he emerged on the rap scene, releasing an EP titled “Él es Crema.” The project featured 7 tracks. Despite not receiving the desired buzz, C. Tangana dropped the EP “Septiembre” and the album “El es Crema” shortly after. Over the next several years, he unveiled numerous projects and collaborated with many artists. In 2007, he released the albums “Desde La Ventana del Bloque” and “Ego.” The following year, the album “Agorazein” saw daylight. From his countless interactions with promoters, producers, and artists alike, C. Tangana steadily developed a local fanbase.

In 2011, after a minor pause, C. Tangana reemerged on the hip-hop stage as a member of the rap collective, Agorazein. He also sported his new moniker. That year, the group released the 15-track album titled “Kind of Red.” 2011 also marked the debut of C. Tangana’s solo effort. He unveiled his self-titled album to critical acclaim. The following year, he released the album “Love” which featured 14 tracks. The EP, “Trouble + President” arrived in 2014 and a mixtape landed a year after. C. Tangana spent these early years meticulously incorporating trap and hip-hop sounds into an uninviting Spanish market.

In 2016, C. Tangana broke through barriers after releasing the beloved single “Antes de Morirme” ft Rosalía, the Latin pop-star who specializes in flamenco music. Not only was the song a hit, but it also opened doors outside of Spain for C. Tangana. As of November 2019, it has been streamed over 200 million times. 2016 also witnessed the release of the popular tracks “Persiguiendonos” and “Lo Hace Conmigo.”

From 2017 to the present, C. Tangana remained relevant by consistently introducing new styles and hits. Aside from uncovering multiple albums, his collaborative portfolio expanded and he earned a recording contract with Sony Music. In 2017, he released the summer anthem “Mala Mujer” and partnered with Dellafuente on the commanding track “Guerrera.” Both tracks were well-received and would accumulate north of 150 million streams in the coming years. “Ídolo,” his debut solo studio album below Sony, arrived on October 6, 2017. In 2018, C. Tangana continued his dominance with the mega-hit “Booty” alongside American singer, Becky G. Within one year, the single accumulated staggering statistics; 230M+ views on YouTube and 107M+ plays on Spotify music, not including iTunes or SoundCloud. He also released his 2nd studio album “Avida Dollars.” A 10 track effort, it featured multiple artists including Steve Lean, Take a Daytrip, Entry-K, Sticky M.A, Lost Twins, and a host more. It was led by the singles “Cuando Me Miras” and “Llorando en la Limo.”

For 2019, C. Tangana has released the notable tracks “Pa’ Llamar Tu Atención,” “Bien Duro,” “Un Veneno,” alongside Niño de Elche and “No Te Debi Besar” ft Paloma Mami. He also collaborated with Nicky Jam, De La Ghetto, Amenazzy, Alizzz, and others. One of his latest songs out is “Pronto Llegará” alongside Darell. He has upcoming venues in Mexico and Argentina.
