Blxst is a rap and R&B recording artist from South Los Angeles, California. In addition to vocals, he’s also a songwriter and record producer (Evgle LLC). Blxst’s discography includes No Love Lost (2020), Just for Clarity (2021), and Sixtape (2019) with Bino Rideaux. Fans probably know him for bangers like “Overrated”, “Perfect Timing” and “Chosen” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. To date, he’s released 2 EPs with Red Bull Records.

The California native was born Matthew Burdette on September 17, 1992, in Los Angeles. He got into skateboarding while living in California’s Inland Empire. Post high school, Blxst took up music and began making frequent visits to studios. He started out as a songwriter and producer before putting his own vocals on display for the world to hear. Early in his career, Blxst produced Hitta J3’s “Do Yo Gudda (Remix)”, featuring YG, Kendrick Lamar and Problem. The opportunity got his name out there and in the process netted him a local following.

CAREER
In 2015, Blxst launched his label ‘Evgle LLC’, through which he raps/sings, directs, and creates his own artwork. After dabbling in music production and songwriting, Blxst released his debut track “Who Would’ve Thought” in November 2015. Over the next few years, he released songs like “Nothin 2 Somethin”, “Broke The Code”, and “Can I” alongside Eric Bellinger. Released in March 2019, his “Falling” track generated 500K+ spins on SoundCloud. Follow-up drops “Hurt” and “Body” also performed well.

In August 2019, Blxst and Bino Rideaux dropped their joint ‘Sixtape’ EP. It was released via Evgle and Out the Blue Records. The project was supported by tracks “Wake It Up”, “Selfish” and “Bacc Home.” For 2020, Blxst kicked things off with “My Emotions” followed by “Slip & Slide” with 1TakeJay. He was featured on “Heroic” from MBNel’s Child of the Trenches (2020). Blxst’s next track to make serious noise was titled “Overrated.” It has 17+ million streams on Spotify and the official video has 3.5+ million views.

In September 2020, Blxst released his debut EP ‘No Love Lost’ via Evgle and Red Bull Records. It rose to #3 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart with songs like “Be Alone”, “Wrong or Right”, and the previously mentioned “Overrated.” A deluxe version boasting 6 additional songs was released in December 2020. Guest appearances were made by Dom Kennedy, Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign, and Bino Rideaux.

In March 2021, Blxst released the EP ‘Just for Clarity.’ It features only 2 songs, namely “Don’t Forget” with Drakeo The Ruler, and “Fck Boys” featuring Russ. The visuals for both songs were directed by Blu. Blxst appeared on the single “Perfect Timing” from YG and Mozzy‘s joint project Kommunity Service (2021). His latest single “Movie” with Bino Rideaux arrived in May 2021.
