ORIGIN Edit
Blueface is an American rapper out of Los Angeles, California. He is currently signed to Birdman‘s Cash Money West label. In January 2018, he started getting noticed after releasing the hit single “Deadlocs” over SoundCloud. Since being released, the song has received over 2.5 million plays. Real name, Johnathan Porter, he was born on January 20, 1997, in Los Angeles, California. When he was a child, his parents moved around quite often, and thus, he attended various schools. Despite promising his mother to not partake in gang activities, following in his older brother’s footsteps, he eventually became affiliated with the crip gang. While he had small skirmishes with the law, his brother took the heavy brunt.

Blueface graduated from Tahquitz High School. After his family relocated, to stay out of trouble, he started playing football. His talent earned him a roster spot at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. However, due to coaching issues, he stopped attending. Upon exiting college, Blueface took on various small-time gigs. He eventually found himself hanging out with rappers like TeeCee4800; attending his shows and studio sessions. New to rapping, he credited TeeCee4800 with introducing him to the game. At age 19, after recording for the first time, he began pursuing music seriously. Blueface grew up listening to artists like 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, The Game, and Drake.

CAREER
In September 2017, Blueface took his talent online. He utilized SoundCloud and Instagram by sharing his tracks and building a fanbase. “Deadlocs”, his earliest banger, quickly garnered him spotlight attention. Released in January of 2018, the song, produced by Scum_beats, had record labels constantly ringing his phone. In 11 months, the track received well over 2 million plays on SoundCloud. A month later, Blueface followed up with another head-turner “Thothiana.” It, too, surpassed the 1 million milestone and got him major recognition. The later released music video (July 2018), racked up 2 million views on YouTube in 4 months. As his career blooms, he took time performing at various high schools and small venues.

Despite being in the game for a short period, Blueface’s career has made steady progress. To date, he has released two major projects, Famous Cryp, and Two Coccy. The first, a 6-track EP, was dropped in May 2018. Featured hits included “Freak B*tch” and “Fucced Em.” Though no artist was featured, the EP was well-received; amassing millions of plays online. The second EP (August 2018) featured 1TakeJay, Gogettakb, and D. Loc. The project was spearheaded by “Blow Her Bacc.” Other notable singles include “Next Big Thing”, “Deadlocs pt. 2”, and “Respect My Crypn.” Blueface did collaboration with Almighty Jay, Stupid Young, and YG. In November 2018, he signed a record deal with Cash Money West.

On November 16, 2018, Blueface was robbed at a gas station in Newhill, California. He retaliated; chasing down the assailant in his car and firing shots at him. The altercation ended after a collision. No life-threatening injuries were reported. Both parties fled the scene. Despite being the victim, he was arrested shortly after for openly discharging a deadly weapon. Upon posting a $50,000 bond, he was released.

Blueface recently confirmed a new collaboration with Drake and Quavo. The off-beat rapper is also working with Lil Uzi Vert. Blueface’s recent track, Bleed It, has been creating quite the buzz. In 4 weeks, it established over 23 million streams. He’s also made headlines following his video chat with Tekashi69‘s ex-girlfriend. On February 1, 2019, Blueface was arrested in Los Angeles for illegal possession of a loaded gun. He believes LAPDs are targeting him due to his race.

In February of 2019, Blueface collaborated with Cardi B to drop “Thotiana Remix.” He also released another version with YG, giving it a different spin. Both projects would be streamed over 200 million times, collectively. Blueface worked with G-Eazy on “West Coast,” Rich The Kid on “Daddy,” and, as of late, NLE Choppa on “Shotta Flow Remix.” As his popularity soars, Blueface’s collaborative portfolio continues to expand rapidly.

PERSONAL
Blueface’s height is 6ft 3in. His Net Worth is estimated at $4 Million USD. His style has been compared to Drakeo the Ruler, Frosty, and Silkk. His moniker was derived from him being in the hood. He describes his music as being controversial. He intentionally raps off-sync with the beat. He once released a song that featured an exposed Blueface for album art. Apparently, the track blew up. His Instagram account has 4.9M+ followers. His YouTube channel houses 570K+ subscribers. He is currently single.
