B.B. King was an American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist who’ve earned the nickname ‘King of the Blues’. He was born on September 16, 1925, in Berclair, Mississippi. King grew up with his grandmother and obtained his first guitar at the age of 12. He worked as a disc jockey in Memphis, Tennessee, and began recording in 1949. He won a total of 15 Grammy Awards from 1971-2009 plus a Grammy Hall of Fame Award for ‘The Thrill Is Gone’ in 1998. He died on May 14, 2015, due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease and congestive heart failure. B.B. King was 5ft 10in tall and he had an estimated net worth of $10 million.
