Baltimore native, Bandhunta Izzy (formerly Lor Izzy), is an American rapper on the rise. His music draws elements from Chicago’s drill scene as well as his own experience navigating the streets of Baltimore. Signed to the Republic roster, Izzy is known for songs like “Gummo Freestyle”, “My Mind”, “BBB” and the 50 Cent-inspired single “How to Rob.” His breakout mixtape, Code Blue, arrived in early 2018. A second tape, That’s Pretty Gangsta, was released in October 2019. He’s had a number of collabs, including tracks with Key Glock, YFN Lucci, and Peewee Longway.

Izzy was born Israel James on December 30, 1996, in Baltimore, Maryland. He grew up alongside two siblings in West Forest Park, Baltimore. His older brother, Jugg, is a fellow recording artist. They share the “Bandhunta” name and the two have collaborated on songs like “Bandhuntas.” Growing up, Izzy experienced the rough side of Baltimore firsthand. His dad walked out on the family before he turned 15. Izzy tried to take matters into his own hands by turning to drug dealing and street violence. His mom was next to go (after she found drugs in her house), leaving him and his brother to fend for themselves.

CAREER
Early in his career, Israel performed under the “Lor Izzy” moniker. He released multiple songs with his brother Jugg, including 2016’s “Bandhuntas” and “Bandhuntas Pt.2.” His debut mixtape, Couldn’t Picture This, dropped in July 2016. Later that year, Izzy released tracks like “BBB” (with Blue Benjamin Sleepy), “Rumors”, “Onna 1” and “I Got It” via his SoundCloud page. He closed out 2016 with “Rumors” and “Blicky.”

Izzy is a part of the D1 Entertainment label. Headquartered in Harford Road, Baltimore, D1 is home to WillThaRapper, Tate Kobang, Peso Da Mafia, Wish Granted, and Young Crazy among others. Izzy’s early 2017 drops included “I Got It”, “Straight Bars Part 2” and “Want War” featuring Young Moose. His joint single “How We Livin” with WillThaRapper was released in April 2017. The following month Izzy inked a recording contract with Republic Records. Later that year he dropped two freestyles, one for “Bodak Yellow” (Cardi B Remix) and the other for “Gummo” (6ix9ine Remix). Both tracks combine for 900K+ streams on SoundCloud.

Izzy’s second mixtape, Code Blue, dropped in January 2018. The project was released by Republic/Universal and it was led by the single “In Love Wit da Trap” (produced by CM$). The tape featured guest verses from Peewee Longway (“Running Man”), Key Glock (“Boomin”), Young Crazy (“FoReal”), YBG Sleezy (“Murda Music”), and Bandhunta Jugg (“Bacc and Forth”). In the first half of 2018, Izzy dropped viral tracks “Poppin Sh!t” and “I Run It” (G Herbo “Who Run It” Remix) Both tracks were produced by PyrexTurnMeUp. Next, he appeared on the single “Cake” from Blackway’s EP, Good.Bad.Faded (2018), and on “Type of N!gga” from Only One Felipe’s tape, The Only One 2 (2018).

2018 also saw Izzy opening for Ski Mask the Slump God as part of the ‘Ski Meets World Tour.’ His third mixtape, That’s Pretty Gangsta, premiered in October 2019. It featured YFN Lucci on the song “Have It All.” The tracklisting includes “Watchin Me”, “Gott’ em Mad” and “How to Rob.” The latter was heavily inspired by 50 Cent’s 1999 single of the same name. It received an Instagram co-sign from 50 Cent himself (“I like this, they coming.”). The visual for ‘How to Rob’ has 4+ million views on YouTube. It was directed by Six7 and featured commentary from The Mad Rapper.

Bandhunta Izzy is around 6ft 4in tall and he’s a Capricorn. His net worth is estimated at $300 thousand USD. In 2018, the “How to Rob” rapper began a relationship with singer Zonnique Pullins (daughter of T.I. and Tiny Harris) in 2018. He previously dated rapper Asian Da Brat (Asian Doll). Izzy cited rapper G Herbo as his biggest musical influence. He also named Yo Gotti and Gucci Mane as two other artists that he grew up listening to. Prior to music, Izzy was very reserved and laid back. He gravitated towards drawing/art during high school. His school friends considered him as the go-to guy for getting their tattoos done.
