Anton Viktorovich Yelchin was an American actor who starred as “Pavel Chekov” in three Star Trek films. He was born on March 11, 1989 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. His parents, Irina and Viktor were competitive figure skaters. His uncle ‘Eugene’ is a children’s book author. Yelchin and his parents moved to the United States in 1989. He studied at the Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies and later at the University of Southern California.

CAREER
Yelchin made his acting debut in the 2000 independent film, A Man is Mostly Water. The following year he starred as “Milo” in Nick Castle’s film, Delivering Milo. Other early films include 15 Minutes (2001) with Robert De Niro, Along Came a Spider (2001) with Morgan Freeman, and Alpha Dog (2006) with Emile Hirsch. He won a Young Artist Award in 2002 for his performance in the drama thriller, Hearts in Atlantis. Yelchin starred as “Byrd Huffstodt” in the comedy series ‘Huff’. The show ran on Showtime from 2004 to 2006 for a total of two seasons.

Yelchin was cast as “Pavel Chekov” in Star Trek (2009). The cast was presented with the Boston Society of Film Critics Award for best ensemble. The role of Pavel Chekov was reprised in Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and Star Trek Beyond (2016). Yelchin starred in the sci-fi film, Terminator Salvation (2009), alongside Christian Bale and Sam Worthington. Other films include Like Crazy (2011) with Felicity Jones, Fright Night (2011) with Colin Farrell, and Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) with Tilda Swinton. He provided the voice for Clumsy Smurf in the 2011 and 2013 films.

PERSONAL
Anton Yelchin died on June 19, 2016 at the age of 27. He was involved in a freak car accident which left him pinned between the rear end of his car and his security gate. He was pronounced dead later that day. Yelchin was 5ft 9in tall and had a net worth of $10 million. He is survived by his parents.
