Anthony Joshua is a British professional boxer and current IBF heavyweight champion. He boasts an impressive record of 22 wins including 21 by knockout. Joshua was born to Nigerian parents on October 15, 1989 in Watford, England. He has three siblings, Janet, Loretta and Jacob. Joshua spent his early childhood in Nigeria. He joined Kings Langley Secondary School upon his return to England. He was very competitive in sports like football and track. He worked briefly in construction prior to boxing.

CAREER
Joshua began his amateur boxing career at the age of 18. He joined the club, Finchley ABC in Barnet, North London and won his first Haringey Box Cup in 2009. He followed up with the senior ABA Championship in 2010. He was offered $70 thousand in 2010 to go professional but he turned it down. Joshua won the GB Amateur Boxing Championships in 2010 and was named Amateur Boxer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Club in 2011. He won silver in the 2011 World Championships and gold at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.

Joshua emerged as a professional boxer in summer 2013. His first matchup was against Italy’s Emanuele Leo on October 5, 2013. He won by way of Technical Knock Out in the first round. In 2014, Joshua improved his record to 9-0 with a victory over Russia’s Denis Bakhtov for the WBC International Heavyweight Title. He won the Commonwealth heavyweight title in September 2015 followed by the British heavyweight title three months later. Joshua defeated Wladimir Klitschko in Apr 2017 to defend his IBF heavyweight title. His latest win was a 7th round knockout victory over Alexander Povetkin in September 2018. Joshua’s professional boxing record stands at 22 wins and 0 losses.
