Angus Scrimm was an American actor and author known for playing the fictional character “Tall Man” in the Phantasm films. He was born Lawrence Rory Guy on August 19, 1926, in Kansas City, Kansas. He towered at 6ft 4in tall in his prime. He moved to California in his teens and studied cinema at the University of Southern California.

CAREER
Scrimm made his big-screen debut in the 1976 drama film ‘Jim the World’s Greatest’ directed by Don Coscarelli. He went on to play his most memorable role as “The Tall Man” in the Phantasm film franchise starting in 1979. His other films include ‘The Lost Empire (1984)’, ‘Subspecies (1991)’, ‘Deadfall (1993)’, ‘I Sell the Dead (2008)’ and ‘John Dies at the End (2012)’.
Scrimm was a Grammy Award winning writer known for his album liner notes. He started out as a journalist and editor for TV Guide, Cinema Magazine before settling down at Capitol Records. He’s written numerous liner notes for LPs and CDs for big names like Frank Sinatra and the Beatles.
