Alanna Masterson is an American television actress. She’s best known for her role as “Tara Chambler” on AMC’s The Walking Dead. Masterson was born on June 27, 1988n in Long Island, New York. Her mother, Carol, is a film producer, and her father, Joe, a former rugby player. She has four siblings, Christopher, Danny, Jordan and Will. Masterson grew up in Los Angeles, California. She studied at the New York Film Academy in New York City.

CAREER
Masterson developed an interest in acting after spending time on film sets with her brothers. She was featured on the cover of Parent Magazine as a child. Masterson made her television debut in a 1994 episode of The Young and the Restless. She was cast as “Colleen Carlton”, a role she played until 1995. She made guest appearance in the series Malcolm in the Middle (2006) as “Heidi”, Greek (2008) as “Alanna”, and Grey’s Anatomy (2008) as “Hillary Boyd”. She held a recurring role as “Abby” in 7 episodes of First Day (2010). The show was canceled in 2011 after the second season.

Masterson was cast as “Dora Bell Hutchinson” in the drama film Peach Plum Pear (2011). The film also starred Tyler Blackburn and Alex Beh. Masterson landed her breakthrough role as “Tara Chambler” on the 4th season of AMC’s The Walking Dead in 2014. She was added to the main cast in season 7. She’s also made multiple appearances on the after show, Talking Dead, hosted by Chris Hardwick. In March 2019, the Tara character was killed off on the 15th episode “The Calm Before” of season 9.

Masterson guest starred as “Mopey Hipster Girl” in the TBS series Men at Work (2014). She held a recurring role as “Lydia” on the ABC drama series Mistresses, and as “Kiara Johnson” on the comedy-drama Younger. She was cast as “Alanna Meadows” in the film Afraid (2018).
