Alan Thicke was a Canadian actor, television show host, screenwriter and producer. He was best known for his role as “Jason Seaver” on the ABC sitcom, Growing Pains. Thicke was born Alan Willis Jeffery on March 1, 1947 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. His birth parents were Joan and William Jeffrey. He had two siblings Todd and Joanne. Thicke grew up in Elliot Lake where he attended Elliot Lake Secondary School. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1967.

CAREER
Thicke’s early television credits included It’s Our Stuff, America 2-Night and The Love Boat. He created, produced and hosted The Alan Thicke Show (1980-82) and Thicke of the Night (1983-84). He was later cast as Dr. Jason Roland Seaver for the ABC television sitcom Growing Pains. The show ran from September 1985 to April 1992 for a total of 166 episodes. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1988 for his performance. Thicke starred as “Dennis Dupree” on the NBC sitcom, Hope and Gloria (1995-96). He guest starred as “Rich Ginger” in the soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful (2006-09).

Thicke’s film credits included Copper Mountain (1983) with Jim Carrey, Carolina (2003) with Julia Stiles and Alpha Dog (2006) with Emile Hirsch. He’s hosted a number of game shows including Animal Crack-Ups, Pictionary, and Three’s a Crowd. As a composer, he’s created theme songs for popular shows like The Facts of Live, Diff’rent Strokes and Wheel of Fortune. He’s also published two books, How Men Have Babies (1999) and How To Raise Kids Who Won’t Hate You (2006). He was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2013.

Alan Thicke died on December 13, 2016 at the age of 69. His official cause of death was heart attack. He reportedly died at the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California. Thicke was married to first wife ‘Gloria Loring’ from 1970 to 1984. They had two children, Brennan and Robin Thicke. His second wife was beauty queen and model ‘Gina Tolleson’. They were married from 1994 to 1999 and had a son named Carter. Thicke’s third wife was ‘Tanya Callau’. The two met in 1999 and tied the knot in 2005. Thicke was 6ft tall and of Scottish, Irish and English ethnicity. He had a net worth of $40 million.
