A Boogie was born Artist Julius Dubose on December 6, 1995, in the Bronx, New York. He was raised in the residential neighborhood of Highbridge. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, followed by the Performance-Based Preparatory Academy in Fort Pierce, Florida. He moved back to New York in summer 2015.

A Boogie began writing his own raps at age 13. He grew up listening to artists like Kanye West and 50 Cent. He’s since gained co-signs from the likes of DJ Khaled and Meek Mill. A Boogie’s debut mixtape, Artist, was released in February 2016. It charted at #22 on the Top Rap Albums chart. The singles “Jungle” and “My Sh*t” were certified Gold by the RIAA. A Boogie’s debut EP, TBA, was released in October 2016. It peaked at #63 on the Billboard 200 and #6 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The EP spawned the Gold single “Timeless” featuring DJ SpinKing. It was dubbed one of the ’40 best rap albums’ of 2016 by Rolling Stone. A Boogie collaborated with Kodak Black on the 2017 single “Drowning.” The song peaked at #38 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was released as the first single from his debut album. A Boogie appeared on the track “Horses” alongside PnB Rock and Kodak Black. He’s also worked with artists like Lil Bibby, Quavo and Kehlani.
In June 2017, A Boogie was named to the XXL Freshman Class alongside Kamaiyah, MadeinTYO, Ugly God and 6 others. His debut studio album, The Bigger Artist, dropped 3 months later. It was supported by singles “Drowning” and “Say A.” The album peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 and was later certified Gold with more than 500,000 copies sold. A Boogie and Fetty Wap were featured on the song “Keke” from 6ix9ine’s album Day69 (2018). The supporting music video for Keke has been viewed 121+ million times.
A Boogie’s second EP, International Artist, was released in June 2018. It sparked singles “Nonchalant” with Alkaline, “Best Friend” with Tory Lanez, and “Way Too Fly” featuring Davido. His sophomore album, Hoodie SZN, premiered in December 2018. It topped the Billboard 200, the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and the Top Rap Albums chart. Hoodie SZN sold 90,000 copies during opening week. The album’s lead single “Look Back at It” rose to #32 on the Billboard Hot 100.
